Reverse hyper was first invented in 1973 by the athlete and coach Louie Simmons. He was determined to find a solution for his injuries that was an alternative to complex back surgery. Reverse hyper has since then become a common piece of equipment in many gyms.
The reverse hyper exercise focuses on the back thigh muscles, glutes, and lower back muscles which are the fundamentals for good posture and good spine support. The machine enables the athlete to train the muscles without putting unwanted stress on the spine, thus protecting it. The movements are simple but effective and can be done by anyone.
